Looking at getting a Helix. Found the Helix 10 SI for 1499.00 and the Helix 12 for 2299.00. Is there something more than the extra 2 inches of screen you get for the $800.00 difference.

The 12 has CHIRP, I don't know all the differences other than that and the price. Give them a call and see or someone here may step up and offer. I do know if I had any sense I'd have bought the 12 instead of the 10 when I bought a month ago. Don't forget a Y cable and the mount. If your running a lowrance now, get the lowrance to humminbird sonar adapter for your 2D shoot through.

Universal Mania has the Helix 12 CHIRP SI for $1669. It's the KVD version which is functionally the same as the standard, but is cosmetically different externally. I think the KVD is beTheir website shows they have 99 in stock, so if you as them about the sale price they ran a couple of weeks ago, they might sell it for that. At any rate, that price with no tax and free shipping makes it a no-brainer over the Helix 10. I just got one from them and am showing considerable restraint on buying a second one and selling the 1199 so I would have two CHIRP units that could share transducer data.

The screen size to me is pretty significant. The 12 has chirp as has been mentioned and also comes with autochart live which I don't believe the 10 does. For $200 more at universal mania it is worth it.

I agree. If you are already willing to spend $1500 go the extra $200 and get the 12" with CHIRP. Screen size is another one of those areas where bigger is better, size matters, etc.

All the Helix 9, 10, and 12 series have Auto Chart Live.

The new G2 Helix 5 and 7 GPS model series have it also.

Do not know, but would guess not. The MEGA SI transducer has a dedicated DI crystal like the ONIX SI transducer has.

No, it is a hardware change not a software update. To get the Mega images you will need to purchase the G2N unit/s. DI now carries it's own dedicated crystal like in the Onix on the Mega units.
