i understand why youre using big gear now, havent been to fork in a long time, i fish rayburn and toledo mainly and can get away with 12 or 15 lb fluoro. ive been seeing that dobyns are a half power weaker than what theyre rated? is that correct or???

I haven't used many rods from other brands but the few I have used I thought they all are close on powers. I believe the Dobyns 3 power are great worm rods. The five power are great jig rods. The 4 power comes in between. The different series seam to be slight difference in powers in the dobyns line up. I mean this a 4 power will be just a little different from savoy to Champion to Extreme. I can tell you this if you know what fishing you like to do call Dobyns. You can talk to Richard or Gary and they will give you the exact rod you should use. They are very easy to talk to and very knowledgeable on fishing rods. just my .02

I think just about everyone is tossing these senkos in different places on different lakes. First u need to match ur rod and line to the cover. I use my weightless baits like wacky and t-rig senko on a 703 champion with 15lb line but I'm rarely tossing it around supper heavy cover mainly around patches of shallow grass, docks and over shallow grass and around moderate laydowns. If for some reason I wanted heavier line I have tossed them on my 733 or 734 with 50lb braid with a 20lb leader. I just don't like casting weightless stuff with heavy floro and a 5 power rod. But this might be needed if your on Rayburn pitching buck brush or Toledo pitching hay grass. There is not 1 rod and line for every bait you have to always factor in cover and size of bass before deciding

Here's how I break it down.
3-weightless worms, t-rig and shakey head up to 5/16oz.
4-all around t-rig rod, chatterbaits, light c-rig, buzz bait
5- flipping stick up to 1oz, jigs 3/8-1oz,
Specific action rods I use for only 1 or 2 baits
804-c-rig and football jig
764-c-rig football and pitching jigs around timber (floro)

guess ill give them a call in the near future to see what they have to say, looks like ill be leaning towards more of a 4 power, considering its for a weightless senko. trying to find a champion xp in a 734 or 744. does anyone know if bargain hunter outdoors has in dobyns rods in and what series? it shows that theyre a dealer on dobyns website. dont want to make a drive and them not have anything though

If you are talking about bargain hunters outdoors in weatherford they ditched most of their fishing section about 6 months ago. Moved to smaller location and didn't have room.

I prefer the Dobyns DX 743 for weightless worms, it's a killer fluke rod as well.

There are some pretty good deals on BBC on Dobyns and some other top shelf brands.

If you can wait until Black Friday, TW usually has 20% off.. And Dobyns in one of the brands you can take advantage of this discount.

744 extreme is my go-to worm rod ( paired w Lews team pro reel )
742 extreme is what I throw weightless senko's ( paired w Lews team Pro reel )

You could throw the 744 w weightless lures, but depends on how stiff you like. I personally like some flex when throwing weightless because it's easier for accurate cast.
