2025, it will be gone....meaning zero dollars to give out. So my money I paid is being used now....enjoy your pennies.

This 'fund' was to NEVER be touched by Congress. Had it remained that way, there would have been excesses ! But, I believe it was under Johnson....Congress then voted those funds be made available to them and they would be 're-paid' !!! What a crock of BS....
Now your seeing and hearing the result.
God Bless Lee

It was Johnson and the Democrats and perpetuated by Presidents after that. Those funds were then 'accessible' to the 'General Fund' !!!!
That should have PO'd everyone.....but, it happened.

2025 is the projected date that the 'surplus' will be gone.

God Bless Lee "borrowed" to pay for Vietnam War. So easy, they've all tapped it since. Would of been self sustaining if left alone.

can we just get rid of SS now? I'd like to dump that money in my 401K or IRA Yep. The problem is, poverty amongst retirees would skyrocket as not everyone is responsible enough to invest.

Watch the news and read the newspaper, been on several times last few months. I mention it here (in other post) and no one bats an eye....guess no one cares they are taking money each paycheck...money you will never see again. Does anyone see a problem with that? Or is it just me?
