couldn't resist that one. Good luck with your brakes, sounds like throw parts at it until it stops.

Well if they're engaging when you brake... then they're working. But grinding is metal on metal. Check your caliper and see if it's come loose. I had one come loose once and lost the pad and the caliper cylinder was grinding into the rotor.

I'm going to say your axle torsion boot is torn and not holding the tire and wheel assembly tight to the ground. When the torsion boot is torn inside the axle housing the wheel and tire do not hold the weight of the trailer and boat causing the tire to lock up and skid. I had to replace the axle.
I also just happen to have a spare axle, spindle, and brake disk assemble. Not trying to sell you anything but if this is your problem. I have some items that can fix it.

I just put the lock key on my tongue to prevent the actuator obviously this prevented my brakes from being engaged which helps me somewhat. one more question how in the world do you get the key to stay put. I used gorilla tape to secure it but no matter how much I love that stuff I know there has to be a better way. lol

I had a 2011 trailer that locked up on me for years. I replaced tires every year. I had it looked at several times. Finally the tire was pressed up against the fender and not making contact with the ground. It ended up being the torsion axle. The entire axle needed to be replaced. EZ Loader covered the repair for safety reasons...mine was this way since it was new, so don't be surprised if it is the torsion axle....

EZ-loader skeeter trailer is probably the worse piece of junk I've had the displeasure of owning.

Most likely the shock in the tongue is worn out. Not expensive nor hard to replace. It keeps the trailer tongue from compressing too fast and slamming on the brakes as well as keeping it from expanding too fast when you take off. If you hear a clunk when you take off, that confirms it.

EZ-loader skeeter trailer is probably the worse piece of junk I've had the displeasure of owning. This. I pulled my calipers off after about a month of owning the boat, and they are sitting in the back of the boat barn somewhere. Boats aren't that heavy, and my truck stops it just fine.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

Man I asked a LOT of questions about trailer brakes....especially on my Stratos rig. My marine mechanic told me, they OFTEN do not stay in operating condition and are rarely working over the years. He flat out told me, trailer brakes on new bass boats were pure h$ll to keep working just through the warranty period on a new rig. Man, that said a lot....so, I quit worry about trailer brakes and just use my vehicle to stop pickup and bass boat.
Doesn't sound like many stay in working condition from others posting in this post and others on here. Sure supports what he told me. Not much help .... but just my two cents
God Bless Lee
