I'm looking to extend the deck on my older ranger 195vx, I previously had just a normal extension with no compartment and I dislike it. I want to make an extension that has a built in compartment for all my soft plastics, I thought about getting a buddy to weld me an extension and I thoug ht about making a wooden one. Does anyone have any clue or experience with such a thing?

Also, does anyone know if you can add a recessed tray to this model of ranger? A non recessed foot pedal drives me crazy

Yes and yes. Cut the hole and can't even start to tell you how to build a deck extension but it can be done . I could build you something but can't tell you how by texting to build it.

Trolling motor tray is an easy DIY project. Just take your time and make a template for the hole. If you have a buddy that would be willing to weld you up a deck extension frame that's the way I'd go.

Just FYI Classic Fiberglass sales trolling motor trays and does installs if you don't want to do it. I think he told me $150 for the tray and installation.

You can probably just buy some aluminum angle, cut to size and bolt together. Then add plywood, seal it and a hinge. Pretty simple. Could make it a complete box that could be removed if wanted.
I know someone who added an extension just by cutting a board then covered in matching carpet and there was enough lip around the previous boxes that it just sits in place. If you have a lip around your rod lockers to fit something like that, it would only then require a hinge and another board fit to size between the consoles.

Call Ranger and see if they can still sell you the extension. If there was one ever available they might be able to still sell you one. They save molds, patterns...to just about every part of every model boat and trailer they have made. Worth a shot.

Has anyone used fish on fab? My ranger 372v is in need of a deck extension and more storage.
