I'm 7 years in. Best decision I ever made. Congrats to you.
My BIL went back after 4 years. Had it whooped, no clue why you would want to fight that battle again.

Hope all you quitters are doing well! 1 year 6 months and 28 days for me. 6 months and 28 days off the Smokey Mountain herbal snuff. For those that say you can't, I did, you can!

Jason - If you search my posts in this forum you will see how I did it - gradually - I made up my mind to quit 12/31/2008 and smoked the last one 9/10/2009. My quit date is 9/11/2009. Also search Kattelyn's posts, she quit close to when I did and she had lots of stuff going on in her life - sometimes I thought we'd lose her but she hung in there. Find something to take your mind off it when the urges hit early on - if you're married or in a relationship just excuse yourself from whatever is going on and walk around the block until whatever trigger has been tripped doesn't bother you any more. Find something to do with your mouth for the same amount of time - I use sugar free cough drops - they last about as long as a cigarette and gives your mouth something to do. 9+ years and I never go out without about 10 cough drops readily available. Chew on a pen or pencil, hold it in your hand, put it up to your mouth, chew it. You'll put it down in about 5-7 minutes. Break the trigger habits - slowly - first thing I used to do when I woke up in the morning was light a cig - then I'd use the bathroom - then I'd get my coffee. Delay the cigarette until after you've finished the coffee. Light a cig when you start the car? Stop smoking in the car - pull over to a parking lot, get out, light up and don't get back into the car/truck until it's gone. (Don't try this in rest stops on I-35 north of Des Moines - it's illegal to smoke outside your parked car. Signs say so. Remember that it's a LOT easier to stop using tobacco when your mind believes that you CAN. If your head keeps telling you that you CAN'T - you never will beat the habit. Best of luck . . . . . if a loser like me can quit smoking, I'd bet you can too.

I quit cold turkey. I finished what cigarettes I had and bought no more. The reason was not because I wanted to kick the habit. I quit cause the cost got to high. I could not support a 3 pack a day habit when cigarers most $5 a pack.
I should have quit sooner or never started and my health would have been a lot better today.
Never wonder why I am such a griper and complainer.? All me disease are progressive. The symptoms as a treatable but I can never be cured. The congestive heart is treated with lasix which damages the kidneys.and it's all complicated by enpgysems, diabetes, osteoarthritis , atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure, and a few others.

I used Skoal for 10 years. Got to where I was up to a can per day. Had a dear friend get cancer from his use but that didn't slow me down. Wasn't untIl I got a mouth full of ulcers that I decided to quit. Scared me because I had never had these before and went to my doctor to see what they were. Had a new roll of Skoal in the fridge and it went to the trash. Haven't used in over 20 years, quit cold turkey. You're doing great!

I must have been away from the fishing forum for a longer time then I imagined.
I did not know this sub-forum existed.
I see the title.
Is this forum for any and "all" topics related to tobacco, or for "quitting" only?
It may be an obvious answer, but I'll ask the question regardless.

Okay, then cigar recommendations and showing off cool pipes won't work. That's cool...
Good luck to those who quit the "smoke." I hope it sticks, and your lives are better for it!

I quit on thanksgiving, and I have zero issues. My attitude is great, and I am genuinely happy and relaxed. I hope you all get bit by a snake. Peace.

Next week will be 2 years, hope everyone else is doing well! Conservatively, after two years you have saved in the neighborhood of $3650.
