In college didn't even worry about it. We all drove regardless of how much we had. Funny thing is we'd take the keys from chicks who couldn't stand up.

One night some friends and I were going to go steal the cannon across town at Hardin Simmons Univ. For some reason I took my wife's car (gf then). Made it about 3 blocks when I got lit up. I knew I was going to jail, and of course all my drunk buddies thought it was funny. Well the cop that pulled me over was engaged to the chick I worked with at a dry cleaners. He said he pulled me over cause of a license plate light being out. He laughed when I told him what we were up to. There were 5 of us and that cannon must weigh 1000lbs, and instead of bringing my or someone else's truck we took my gf's Malibu. He told me to turn around and not leave the apartment again that night. I said ok, ty much. Funny thing is he gave y buddy a MIP about two weeks earlier, and could have given him a dwi. Seems in Abilene they don't really care if you drink and drive. Can't tell anyways cause it's a rule if you live in Abilene you drive like S anyways.

The only time I ever drive after drinking is going home from a nearby relative's house - 2 miles on county roads. There is more danger from hitting a deer or feral hog.

You must be older than dirt.

I do not ever remember it being legal for the driver to drink and drive.

If I have a drink with a meal while out, I will wait at least 2 hours after drink before driving--and lots of water. I don't drink much though. Having a friend killed by a drunk driver changes your perspective.

Just 15 years ago it was when they made it illegal.

too many idiot drivers on the road today to risk it. A mild fender bender caused by someone else could be your golden ticket. Not worth it IMO. Gave it all up six+ years ago. Figured I used up all my free passes.

Its easier to dodge the people texting and driving if your drunk.

Lately (past 5 years or so) I only drink when I am out of town and traveling.
I usually take Uber when out of town so no worries.
