This^^^^

If it has won someone lots of money they were dink fishing on Fork.
I used to drop shot and got tired of catching 30 fish that were 10" long.

Haha....nope. I was fishing for smallmouth with Matt Lee on Table Rock.

Different deal. Them small mouths like fairy wand stuff. Even the big ones.

Retirement best job ever.

Sorry, I can see how that could be misread. I didn't mean that I was moving it a lot, I meant that I have been fishing it a lot trying to figure it out. Normally I deadstick it.

I've tried this deep, I've tried this shallow, I've tried this around bass going crazy feeding, I've tried this in 3 lakes, I've worked the [censored] out of it... and not a single strike, and I cannot figure out why.

This probably has a lot to do with your lack of bites. It takes very little input to get plenty of action to your bait. It's easy to over do it.

Like many have said, don't over work the bait. Try different colors other than dirt. Watermelon/red, Green pumpkin, Redbug, Junebug, red bug shad, tomato, blue fleck, watermelon candy/red, watermelon/gold Aarons magic, south africa special.

Use darker colors in dirty water or when it is cloudy.

BTW I prefer using a bait caster for drop shotting. Im not a big fan of spinning gear.

I use 12# Invizx and a 1/4 oz weight most of the time.

Hit a clearer lake with it. The bite is not like a TX Rig Bite. Sometimes, it is just picked up and held. You are looking for anything different than the normal feel of the bottom. I actually do 'set the hook' when I am fishing it. It is just a reel tight and pop it.

Make sure the hook is pointed up, not down...

Head out to East Texas and fish the bridges to catch a few fish and get the hang of it.

Do y'all really buy into the 1/8oz thing? If your wanting to dead stick it and only use enough rod action to wiggle the worm, it would seem like a heavier weight would anchor it better for this presentation...especially on east Texas lakes where the technique can be a combo between finesse and power...don't know if I said that right....mabey you get the picture.

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

I thought that at first, but after doing it for while, it seems like the 1/8 sticks to the bottom pretty decently. I guess if you have a really stiff/heavy rod, you would move the weight more. I'musing s purpose built all star drop shot rod, and it has some backbone to it, but the tip is soft and fast... I end up having to think about moving the weight.

You'd better be in the exact right spot if you're going to let it sit there and just twiddle it around. They will hit it (in my experience) after a short pause or apparently even on the move sometimes. I have been using it at times to cover ground and look for fish. It is a different enough presentation that it may trigger fish that wouldn't maybe hit a jig or T rig plastic, I think.

Try putting a clear flora leader about 3' should do it. It won't show up as the braid does my tournament partner was catching 6-8 to my 1 when I fished braid without a leader.8# leader is good but just pull into them as the braid will snap the flora.Hope this helps I only use it on lakes that are clear enough to see at least1'.

Use a 1/0 offset rig from River A tackle on here, I use 12 lb sniper fluorocarbon, and a 1/8 - 1/4 skinny tungsten weight.....rig a zoom finess worm in watermelon seed/chartreuse tail or a zoom trick worm in same color Texas style......now throw it almost anywhere..... wiggle it, hop it, drag it, dead stick to.....plus I use casting gear, 6'9 medium TFO Tactical with a lews tournament lite.....wack the mess out of them all the time

Well, I will throw my $.02 in. I only use 4 colors and really only 2 get used all the time, the other 2 are for dark days or really tough and clear water. Morning dawn, aarons magic, June bug red, watermelon. I use 10lb braid with about a 6ft flours leader. Usually I use a 1/8oz weight but will use 1/4oz when it's windy. Once you get the feel or the right rod a 1/8oz is pretty good and a 1/4oz feels to heavy. I ONLY throw it if know there are fish around. To me it's not a good thing to cover water because you need to work it so slow. Sometimes you have to let it just sit, sometimes let it sit then a subtle shake, sometimes continuous shake, it all depends on the fish.

To me you don't have to work it slow although I will if I have to. I've caught too many fish moving it right along if I don't know where they are. Sometimes they are just on it and as with anything, worms, jigs, etc they will bite it or they won't.
