What TXU does should be against the law. How can they claim free nights when they double or triple the rate for the rest of the day to offset. Only the mathematically challenged should ever fall for this scheme. I think the same thing when I see auto dealers advertising buy 3 tires a get one free.

Champion Energy has never done me wrong. Check them out. They have a few different plans you can choose from.

I'm not sure how they convince anyone to sign up for that plan. They even advertise 12 cents per kWh average, AFTER taking into account the free night time usage.
Reliant is around 8 cents, and depending on your monthly usage you can find as cheap as 4 or 5

I had Gexa for years. Did a contract rate then average billed. Simple, easy, steady.

TXU makes their money off the elderly who don't understand electric choice and who still believe TXU is "the electric company". No one who shops rates would end up with any TXU plan as even a top 10 choice to consider.

The gov site that is supposed to be a resource and help continues to allow the low KWH scams with the high fees to flourish. I only have one choice as I live in a CO-OP.

All the fees and charges are very clearly published in the EFL. I don't see any problem with it Some of those plans can still work out in your favor under the right circumstances

I have TXU free nights and it works out well for me. I leave my place at 0630 and shut everything off including A/C. Home around 7pm and crank everything back up. After a few beers on the patio it's quite comfortable inside. Mind you I'm in an 800sf apartment so it works for me. Last month was 58 bucks and have had many around $40.

Always remember - businesses are designed to make money. If they offer something for "free" then it is being paid for somewhere else.
If you ever call a service tech (plumber, HVAC, electrician) to your house for a free service, then it is a sure bet he will find something that has to be replaced. At least $80 worth, as that is about the minimum for an hour of labor and overhead costs.
