Are debt free, what age did you get there? No, this is not in response to the credit card thread. I am debt averse, and was curious reading that retirement thread the other day.

Debt free is fluid. Have been at different times in my life.

I'm 37. After takng financial advice from the other thread, I'm considering defaulting on my credit cards and letting my car get repo'ed. I figure I'll be debt free by the end of the year.

When I was born, two days later and I was already accumulating debt.

We accumulated a little once we got married but it is almost all paid off. I will have the truck paid off by the end of the year and only one small card left. Then we will buy a house and start the whole thing over again bang

At 55, I did however not pay cash for my last pickup. I was offered 0% financing and got a considerable discount with my corporate fleet package. It was in my opinion a better financial decision to take the 0% and leave the money to earn interest.

Sounds like you have the discipline to do this.

Started listening to Dave Ramsey back around 2000. While I already knew everything he was talking about, he organized it in a way that made sense to me and the wife. We worked the program and became debt free in 2008. thumb

I was 44 yrs old.

Paid off the house, vehicles and everything else at age 48. Might go with a low interest loan on any new vehicles.

I'm debt free but live in an apartment. When I buy a house in the next year or so, I'll have a mortgage debt.
