I went back at 46 and finished at 49 in a completely different field. It was a good time. Fortunately, I only had to work part time. The difference is I was focused and did well. The first time I went my goal was just to get through and get a job. The second time I had a goal and focused on getting the grades, contacts, and skills necessary to be good at the job.

After high school I did a semester of community college but didn't wanna be there at the time and was lazy and failed. I'm 24 now and have been working the same job at a wealth management firm since then and hate it so I've been back in school for about a year now to work towards a job/degree I enjoy. Although I can only take 2 or 3 classes a semester at the moment due to work. The plan is to finish my basics at HCC then transfer to SFA to finish my bachelors. I'm fortunate to have my parents helping me out with tuition and what not. I guess the point of my post is you're not alone. If it will really benefit you do it, especially while you're still young-ish. They say it just gets harder to do the older you get. What you're doing class wise is exactly what I'm thinking of doing. I want to get my basics done through Lonestar or HCC then I was looking at A&M Mays School of Business.

I wish kids were made to work at least 2 years full time then go to college. I think more of them would take it seriously

My wife was 35 when she went to college to become a teacher. Best decision she ever made. It's never too late.

I am starting school again on Monday at age 31. I have a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering that I got 9 years ago and after spending that 9 years in the industry, I realize that I'm going to need a Masters in some sort of management field to be able to stay ahead of my co-workers. Found an online Program for a Masters in Engineering Management and Leadership at Purdue. Should be a really useful degree in 3-4 years when I'm finished. Company is paying for it, so all I've got to put in is the blood, sweat, and tears.
As for the usefulness of a degree, most folks don't use a degree for what they learn. They use it as proof that you're the type of person who is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. That's what college is - constantly having not quite enough time to do everything. So you prioritize and figure it out and learn to be successful in any situation. That's what employers want their employees to do as well, and that's why a piece of paper is valuable.
Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. - Soren Kierkegaard

I have various degrees from an online University. Thinking about sending off and getting my PHD Only take 24 hours to get a degree http://www.instantdegrees.com/ I just looked at that link, cracks me up I wonder has anybody ever used and claimed these when trying to get hired and did it work? I am sure they have, once you have worked at a place or get older it is rare for an employer to ask for a copy of your diploma. Now if you are trying to sit for board test that requires a verification then you will be out of luck I actually got a MBA 10 years ago from some online university from somewhere in Asia, the diploma looks legit

Worked construction from Colorado to Texas when I graduated high school. Great money and for the most part there were some good jobs. On my last job with Brown/Root in Groesbeck, I mentioned to my grandparents that I was thinking about going back to school.
They helped and I got my degree in Physical Ed/Mathematics and became a teacher/coach. One of the best decision I made in my life. Do it no matter what your age.
