They sure thought it out well. I can't wait to see one in person. I hope to see people ordering them with the 300 Verado. That would be quite a combo.

I've owned 2 Champions from the 1984 18'4 SuperV to the 1997 191 and was a die hard Champion owner. I then decided to buy a Ranger, was a dream since I was a kid to own a Ranger. I got into the 520 model and realized how much value there was in a stable and well thought out fishing platform. When I saw this I was hugely excited, but then realized, how much I've grown to value a stable platform over the Champions. Not to say they have come out with a great new top cap but a few things still stick out that I believe would make it even better. Console, looks to only take an inset graph less than 12" and it doesn't look easy to attach an aftermarket bracket such as a Bass Boat Technologies one to allow for an increase due to the inset and curved nature of the console. No lockers on lids. This was the first time I heard of the statement that locks cause leaks so we did away with them. I realize some boats are known for leaky lids, but I have yet to have water get into any of my 3 Ranger's lids. I know it has a lock'r bar, but only for the front. Front deck width, this, I've learned to really love a wide deck on my 520 and can't go back, kind of like Power Poles.
I learned to drive Champions doing the U-turns and breach stops in a Champion by a professional driver that drove the boats for the Champion commercials, and that's what made me realize there was no other boat that could handle as well or was as safe as a Champion. However, we're talking about hulls that haven't changed for 20+ years, I'm no expert on hulls for sure, but hasn't there been hull design improvements since then that would leave things to be desired, i.e. fishing platform stability for one? I realize you can't have your cake and eat it, but just a thought. I'm definitely not claiming my Z520C handles like a Champion, no way, it's very wide platform up front causes it to be fairly rough when straddling waves, but I have to ask myself, the majority of time I'm not fishing in really large waves, even in N. Texas, so I'll take platform stability, layout, etc. But hey this is only my $.02 cents. I an keenly watching to see what Charger does in the future with these!

Video advised that the driver's console would take a 12" graph. I also agree that the older Champions move from side to side with two guys fishing but I've got the 181. In the video the two guys don't seem to even move the boat while moving about and when the boat drove past them the wake didn't affect the stability of it at all.

N texas bass er have you been in a 210 or a wider beam champion? You can't compare the older 90 inch beam to the 95 inch beam of these newer style champ hulls. I have a wide beam now and came out of a 191 and it's a totally different platform. If you get the chance take a ride and fish out of one and then get back to us , think you might have a more educated opinion, just sayin.

Looks like a nice boat, can't believe they do not have latches on the rod boxes and storage compartments.

I heard them comment on a 12" on the bow, but must have missed the comment about the console.

champRD, no, I haven't kept up with them, I would definitely be interested in getting in one and checking it out for sure! What's the closest Charger dealer around here?
