Does reeltime rods offer a way to buy and see the rods without driving to east Texas?

don't scratch your head to much...That's A very generous act of kindness...I'm gonna try to get over to fork sometime soon and put my hands on one of these rods, it's a 2 hr drive for me...can someone tell me if the dropshot and shakyhead techniques require the same rod actions?...from what I'm gathering you want plenty of backbone with a lighter tip?

I go to Fork nearly every weekend and can bring one of Rons Reel Time drop shot rods back with me for show and tell in the Metroplex area if anyone wants to see one. I have it both in spinning and a bait caster model.

I've been using Skeet's Dropshot rod for about 10 years now.. biggest I have caught with it is 6.5lbs on Joe Pool. I use a Shimano Symetre FC 1500, 30lb braid, 12lb Invivix leader,1/0 Gamakatsu dropshot/slipshot hooks.. just about any plastic you want to put on there will work but I have had success with Roboworm, Zoom Utails, Zoom magnum finesse, Yamamoto Shad Shaped Worm and Senkos. Its a fun way to fish!

Have you looked at trying something with a little more power? I am a little unique in that I throw my drop shot on a Dobyns Champion 703C. I fish it most of the time in pretty thick timber so I like the extra power and it's plenty sensitive enough.

Kinda in the same boat. I have the Fury, it's nice and nothing wrong with it. Just not feelin it. I want a higher end rod. I like the Plfueger president limited edition I have, it's pretty nice. I'd check one out if you brought it back EZbassin

I used a St. Croix Legend Tournament for my dropshotting for many years before switching to Dobyns. I haven't looked back or even considered buying another brand of rod since I changed to Dobyns. How ever I still have quite a few of my old St. Croix and I still use them. Back when I bought my Legend Tournament rod, they only offered a 5 year warranty and unfortunately I broke the rod last year. I got a good 8 years out of that rod and caught plenty of fish.

I use my trusty Skeet drop shot rod.

Been using it for about 4 years now and really like it.

I've been using a falcon lowrider finesse jig rod for a long time. It's the only spinning rod I own and the only one I will ever own (hopefully). It is truly a bad @$$ rod. I throw flukes, white perch fish and mainly drop shot with it and I'm telling you, if a fish breathes on it you will know. I also believe that pairing with the right size reel will make ALL the difference. Ditch that big reel and get a small one and you will feel a difference.

Well go ahead & have a good laugh - I've used a BPS Bionic Blade - 6' - Lite acton rod - for many years now. I learned the technique (drop shotting) from Don Iovino in So. Cal on a couple guide trips. Mind you , this is an open water set up, with 8 lb. test (since I moved here to TX), but it is the most sensitive, lightest rod in my arsenal. And - it works!!!! I also learned how to "back reel" from Stan Fagerstrom at a seminar - NEVER use the drag.

Don't knock it - till ya try it.

Have caught 100's of large bass up to 6 lbs. on this -
