The spot lock and other electronic functions are self contained in the trolling motor. If it has some type of ilink option, that would only be compatible with humminbird but generally that has been an optional accessory

I tested one of these motors for Minn Kota and let me tell you it's the best trolling motor I've ever used in my 20 plus years in professional fishing. It definitely makes your day of fishing easier and helps you catch more fish with less effort. If you're serious about fishing you will definitely want to purchase one of these trolling motors.
Also, my partner David Fanning and I won one of those early tournaments that have on Welsh this year with 21.6 lbs because of this trolling motor. The winds were around 20 mph and I used the spot lock to hold us in the key areas to catch the fish. There's no doubt we wouldn't have caught them otherwise. The water was too deep for power poles and anchoring would have been a pain and in no was as effective.

I'll buy one. My 101 lb Terrova will be for sale soon. I just had a new shaft installed. It has one fishing trip on it with the new shaft.

Fished all day at Fork and didn't break it. What a miracle!! clap

I am very excited about this trolling motor. I run the banks in the spring and fall, but all summer and winter I am offshore in deep water. Having a cable driven motor with spot lock will be huge for me. Currently running a Foretrex and will probably keep it as a back up. I have asked Minn Kota at least 100 questions about the Ultrex since they released the info to the public and I am pumped. I have to tip my hat to Minn Kota for being EXTREMELY responsive to my questions. I doubt I ever went more than 8 hours before I got an answer to my questions and this was in the middle of iCast when I am sure they were being bombarded with questions.

I have been told that the Ultrex uses the same mount as the Fortrex so all I/we will have to do is loosen the allen bolt attaching the Fortrex motor to my mount, install the Ultrex and get back to fishing. I will probably just keep the Foretrex as a back up.
