It is also interesting that for this TFF survey, Toyota sits in third just barely above Dodge. That's a big deal and again due in part to their Texas presence and their very large support of the sport through sponsorships. Drove a new two-wheel drive Sequoia for two years. Loved the room and the power but the fuel economy was terrible. It averaged 13.8 over 80K miles. I did not reset the trip computer after each tank. That was the OVERALL average mileage. I now drive a 2015 Suburban 4X4. It just rolled over 70K miles and the average fuel economy is 17.4 mpg. Same thing. I do not reset the trip computer when I fill up.

Sounds like bob and I don't have much in common except we don't have shallow water anchors

So basically we discovered that the average guy on tff posting is retired and ought to be at the lake fishing off his new i class he towed with his new eco boost instead of sitting at home because its over 80* outside?
Bob is older than my dad... And his truck should have a bowtie... And spend time hunting instead of saltwater fishing...But otherwise fairly on point for both of us as well lolNot really... I see it as anglers that are established in their life, and careers, more so than a bunch of youngsters, that are still trying to get there. imo.

All of a sudden Bob has become more controversial than Hillary Clinton. Poor Bob.

You have 70K miles on that brand new suburban?! I think I know Bob and he's a pretty good chap. I just can't figure our how he got a Merc on his bug. This wasn't in the survey but Bob is a white male.

I actually find nothing surprising about these results outside of the Skeeter - Mercury thing. I've seen media kits from a few fishing related companies and have always known that what I once thought was more of a redneck sport was not. In fact, that the majority of the guys really deep into this are older in life and in most cases not wondering where their next cheeseburger is coming from with many owning their own companies. That may change with so many high school and college kids getting into tournament fishing which is awesome for the future of the industry but for now that is what it is.
How else would you explain the constant sale of $50K-$80K boats, $4K graphs, $300+ rods, $300+ reels, $100+ single swim baits, etc, etc.
If you look at the demographics for serious hunters (I'm in the exotic game business), you will find very similar results but the hunting side is actually even bigger.
The best part about both of these industries is that you can be a part of both without being wealthy. So, its not and will never become an elitest thing despite how much money is poured into them today, which is awesome.

This wasn't in the survey but Bob is a white male.... Sorry Ken. Oh no, now race has entered into the discussion. All down hill from here. That's what happens when you take a survey or ask for advice on the TFF. Let's remember, Bob is a fictitious person, not his real name and none of us know him. He is who you think he is and nothing more. After the survey is completed, if ever, all we'll know is what was submitted and it will never be definitive because somebody just bought a new truck, boat, rod, reel, etc. different from what they entered in the survey. It's all for fun folks and nothing more. Let's keep it that way.

Right in the midst of the pot stirring these last few weeks, huh Gig? This was somewhat of an inside joke between this redneck "Bob" and my buddy Ken, one and the same. I'll amend my post if it makes you happy. Keep your politics away please. (Though my guess is that Bob is a concealed carrying conservative republican) Tight lines, Jackson Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of '96 P.S. Great survey Mark.

One thing I will always remember that I was told once by a good friend of mine,.. "all fisherman are liars, except you and me. But lately I've been wondering about you."

Have no idea if "Bob" is white,a redneck or a "concealed carrying conservative republican". Like I said "Bob" is a fictitious person and I didn't bring up politics, you just did. I'm having lunch with Ken Monday but I doubt we'll be talking about this survey. Glad to hear you're an Aggie. GIG'EM

I've always liked Bob. He smokes a great brisket. Not a bad golfer either.
