I'm guessing it's a strike king Xd in citrus shad color. I can't tell for sure

The reason I ask is, I've read some post where people are using a crank bait that dives like a DD-22, but it's a smaller bait and it doesn't wear you out while using it. I have used the DD-16 and 22 many of times, but there is no way I can work it longer than an hour. It will beat you down.

Yes it's a deep diver, that is a 6XD by Strike King. I like both the 5XD and the 6XD's, They do not wear you out like other plugs as they have a steeper dive and get to bottom quickly. Colors that work for me are Tennesee Shad, Citrus Shad and the Blue Chartreuse. Throw them on the points and humps, I just started using the 7'11" Marke Rose addition Kistler KLX and it is awesome for cranking. I can throw a crankbait almost twice as far with it than I can with my 7'3". I have found that being key to getting the crankbaits down for a longer period of time. Staying longer in the strike zone equals more bites!

I threw the 5XD yesterday and had good luck. Sexy shad color. Biggest fish weighed in at 6.4lbs. Almost all fish were in the three pound range. Very short trip, but still had fun. Fished for 3-1/2 hours, found the best chew to be up shallow in four to six feet. Was not expecting that at all, but I'm glad I got out and caught a few. Very windy day making it some what difficult. Fault the wind a lot, but that one good one made it worth the trip.

I've done well on the 5XD also. At times it seems as if they are hitting it on the way up so I mix in a 3XD to give them a smaller bait. Primarily throwing the blue chartreuse, but I am not sure they really care on Fayette!

That is great fishtx, glad you were able to get on some with the crankbait! When it is windy, cranking is easier than worming for me.

E5Zero, I wish I had not waited so long on getting one. It really makes a big difference on the distance you can cast a crankbait! Let me know when you want one lol Good tip on throwing the smaller 3XD, I will give them a shot next time out.

How is Fayette as far as depth and stumps, never been before?

stumps are no worse than any other lake in this part of the world
fayette can be a beauty or a beast ==== right time right place !

Ya there are some stumps and trees. But it's not crazy like Harmon creek at Livingston! Lol. It shouldn't be a huge concern. No need to run through the shallower areas on plane anyway.

Last couple of years a lot of timber has falling. Just be careful around any standing timber areas. There are a few good trees just under the surface, so go slow and trimmed up. And I would stay out about 75 yards while going around any points.

What do those 4 buoys out in the middle of the lake mark?
