Looking at all the rod selections Tackle Warehouse has to offer is giving me a headache Im between: Falcon Dobyns Phenix St. Croix G-loomis I'm staying in the below $300 range. I just want to buy one brand. I am stressing out just looking at all the selections. . . Who uses what and why do you use it?? Edit: All Five of these manufactures have a great selection of rods below $300

Depends on what technique you are considering. For just general all around fishing I like the G.Loomis IMX 843. For crankbaits the Dobyns rods are hard to beat. All the rods you mengioned are good rods and made by reputable companies. There are some good rod buildersthat also make a great product for a good price, checkout Reeltime Rods over here at Lake Fork.

Loomis used to build quality blanks. Hard to beat a good Loomis built custom.
Cast I have a short attention spa

I don't have any Dobyns or GLoomis but of the other three my Falcon's would be be my pick. Don't really have a why for you, just a feeling or preference. I don't want to confuse you any further but of my rods my Kistler's are my favorites. I have Mag2 and Argon series. Both rods well under $300. The Mag2 series has the most options available and are feather lite. Just got an email stating that if you buy any 2 rods you get a free Carbon series rod. Never used a carbon series but it's free. Fact is you can choose any of the rods you listed and be satified.

I for one will never buy a rod without touching it and testing if the guides were installed correctly. By this I mean are the guides mounted along the natural spline or bend of the rod. I have a rod I bought from Bass Pro years ago that is way off and when you set the hook the rod actually wants to "bend" to the natural bend of the blank.

Check out the warranty policy as well as in if you break it , as in break it with no questions asked and or break it under a defect issue. Dobyn's has a great replacement program and upgrade program, but you got to keep up with your receipt

Too bad in Oklahoma there is no dealers for anything but Falcon

Dont count out Daiwa. Their 150range rods are comparable to 300+ rods from other companies.

I have some St. Croix, Falcon, Abu Garcia, BPS, Duckett, All Star, and Ugly Stick. The one thing most of them have in common is they all either have an Abu Garcia or Zebco reel attached. I know that's probably not any help, but I seem to be very picky about my reels and not so much when it comes to rods. I have had a couple of St Croix for over 15 years that are at the top of my list but I bet the quality isn't the same on the new ones. It seems like all of the new rods I buy end up breaking within the first year, so back to Academy they go.

Probably all good rods but I agree with the above, I won't ever get one without atleast trying one out first. Not necessarily the actual rod but the same rod that maybe somebody else has so I can see what it feels like. Every manufacturers actions are a little different so one will more than likely match your feel better than the others. For me that's falcon. I do have a dobyns swimbait rod and an old allstar Carolina rod I use for frogs but falcon is my main one. I used to be real big on the one brand deal but there's really no point if someone builds a better rod of a certain action. They aren't paying you to use their stuff.

All the rods you have listed are going to be quality products in that price range. Go to a Cabelas or BPS that will have most of them and fondle a few of them. You might find the grip on this brand fits your hand a little better, or that you like the color schemes of that better. Then check the warranties (or do that first to eliminate any whose warranty you don't like). Then get to shopping, man. I can think of a lot bigger problems in my life than which $300 fishing rod to buy.
