Monarkman,

Lake Bryan looks OK but still about two feet low. I've been out a couple of times but the crappie are not biting very well yet, certainly not like last year at this time we were tearing them up in the channel.

Salt,
I read here on the forum that the gate to Newmans might be opening Wednesday. If it is open and you drive back there to the creek you need to pay the $2.00 fee.

Has anyone tried Cedar Creek or has everyone focused on nails, yegua? Just wondered if anyone has any updates on Cedar. Any update would be great. Thanks!

Cedar, Birch and Jardelle creeks are much smaller with little flowing water and were dry back in November-December. I've noticed that there is a absence of baitfish (especially shad) in these smaller creeks compared to the larger flowing creeks like Yegua and Nails. It takes some time for the baitfish populations to regain what is lost during the dry years.. I've not fished Cedar creek yet this year but have heard of one good report recently. It is always worth a try and if it proves unfruitful then Nails creek is just over the next hill.

I understood the size difference of the creeks I just figured with all the rain amounts that have fallen the bait fish may have worked their way into Cedar creek and the White Bass moved in with them. Two weeks ago I fished cedar and pulled a few out however, this was before the fished "turned on" like they have now. I fished Yegua yesterday and pulled a few out. I think the cold front that moved through may have slowed them down a bit. Going to head out in the morning again and hopefully have my 25 by noon.

I think everyone but me is going to Newmans in the morning. I hope everyone catches their limit smile The weather Saturday sounds bad for fishing but who really knows what or why fish do what they do anyway! Good luck and take some pictures!

Reports are that the crappie are biting in Jardelle creek downstream from the bridge on FM 1948 Easy bank access from there and lots of trees in the water. Best bet is minnows and a slip cork.

Is anyone fishing for crappie anymore or have the whitebass stole the spotlite for now?

I've tried my butt off to catch some slabs in Yegua, but with no success. I have slowed my retrieve down to almost none, fished tight to cover, downsized lure weight...everything. Any tips?

Hey Hook-Line&sinker. What creek off of 1948 are you calling Jardelle? The map I got calls it Rocky, If it's the same one your talking about. Just curious, we tried all around the lake this weekend , in every crook and nanny, and only found whites. Neumans was standing room only, and Ervin bridge was almost as bad.

Yes I think it is the same creek. My map shows rocky creek merging with Jardelle about a mile up from the lake, but who knows for sure? The map also has some other errors. Rocky creek might be on the other side of the rocky creek park entrance.
