sometimes they just won't eat! I've ran over reds in my yak laying in the potholes; they swim away and then go right back to the pothole-p-

Found a bunch of Redfish today. They were layed up and very spooky early but about ten o'clock they started tailing and cruising around. I hooked five and landed three. Had something happen that was crazy. I was getting ready to change locations and made a cast just to reel up my slack line. The fly hit the water and a Red pounced it - I never new he was there. Of coarse, I missed the hook set because he caught me off guard.
About to take 2flyfishes suggestion and go to Dirty Al's for dinner. I love shrimp!

Good deal, that cajun shrimp is some of the best I've had. How are the crowds down there? I was talking to a guide buddy of mine last summer and he was saying the fish use to always be happy and feeding. now with all the boats and pressure the past few years he's saying the fishing has drastically changed for the worst. The fish are just to wound up to get into a good consistent pattern.

When I fished down there thirty years ago everyone had big, deep boats that they would run up the ship channel, anchor up at the edge of the channel and fish. Now, everybody has very shallow running boats with big engines. They don't fish the flats, either because they're not interested in that kind of fishing or they don't know how, but they have these boats that will jump up on a plane in inches of water and scream across the flats at 40 MPH - and they do, because they can - leaving the game fish shellshocked. Then, after they have torn up the flats, they run back to the channel and fish deep water. I've seen a lot of boats down there the last few years that have poling platforms and no push poles in the boat. I saw two boats this week that had cushion seats mounted on the platforms.
