I put out decoy bouys quite often.
If there are only 3 boats on a 10k acre lake one will come over and either fish it or waypoint it.
Retirement best job ever.

I'm gonna have to try that next year. We threw out buoys in a few locations and it looked like we had a sign that read "COME FISH HERE" cause they did. LoL

I must've seen ya'll, or someone else doing this. It was a Skeeter, right?  I did see someone fishing about 25 yards away from a buoy in the opposite direction on the East side of the lake...

I may have looked as though I was marking someones bouy on Hurley pond dam.
I was going to a waypoint I had marked where a brushpile used to be and was idleing to it with a couple boats to the North about 80 yards to the closest one. As I crossed the waypoint I had my bouy ready to throw out but didn't see any brush on the sonar so I didn't throw it out but when I looked up I noticed a bouy right beside the boat about five feet away.
I moved down the pond dam a ways and fished back towards the bouy and even casted by it a couple times when I got close enough. I sure wanted to catch a fish by it, but two casts is all I could do before a sense of shame set in and I couldn't do it anymore and moved on wondering who put it there and what they may have thought about me fishing near it after idleing by it like I did.
I'm sure I looked like a poacher to whoever owned the bouy.
