that's about the same jig set-up I was using. just gonna take a while to figure out the area. where can I get a topo map of lake Lewisville or grapevine lake as well? I go out in my canoe with no depth finder. I've found a couple online but nothing very clear

Aqua map pro works pretty good on your phone for lake topo. Easier than using a paper map. Lewisville has a number of guides that can show you the lake and how to catch sandies. You could also hook up with someone on here that has a back seat open when they are headed to the lake. I have tomorrow open if you don't mind the rain and would make you a deal on a one person trip.

oh I don't mind rain at all. problem is I work 7 days a week so muy fishing is usually limited to running up there after work. I just keep my canoe strapped to the top of my truck all the time for just in case I get out early. if I get a day off, I may just take you up on that though. y'all are great with the advice and such. I appreciate it

Sounds good. Some of my favorite trips on Lewisville are from 5:00 til 11:00 pm. Sandies and hybrids before dark and crappie under the lights after dark. 2 people can fish out 6 dozen minnows in a couple of hours when the bite is on. Lots of fun.

are you fishing those minnows near the surface or deep? if any of y'all ever go up to Massachusetts, I've got all the advice you could ask for freshwater or saltwater haha. the hybrids around here just make me miss the saltwater monster stripers up there. I'm gonna figure this stuff out around here. just figured asking some of you guys who've been doing it awhile would speed up the learning curve a bit very interested in a guide trip. if I get a day off, I'll let you know for sure
