I believe you're correct they never thought about a bank guide. I only know of three of us.

I'm curious, are you an actual licensed guide in the state of Texas and Oklahoma, or do you just refer to yourself as a guide? The way I understand how Texas refers to a guide is that you're licensed and insured. If you are not licensed, I would think you would follow the guidelines as any other bank angler.
Please note, I am not discrediting your skill or expertise to put customers on fish. I have seen what you do for your customers and it is top notch.

His website does not list his license or any accreditation. The laws that are being quoted are based on licensed guides.

You can generally assume that if someone advertises themselves as a professional fishing guide, they have their guide license. If someone is unlicensed and guiding, that is an entirely different situation that would probably carry some hefty fines.

Walk by and mind my own biz. I would only call someone in if they were in gross violation of the rules.

It's against the law to guide without a license. As much exposure as the man has, it would be beyond foolish for him to guide without a license. Especially for as long as he has been.. 15+ years now. We're all three in constant contact with the local game wardens, and they know us on a first name basis, as well as having our numbers saved in their phones. There's no way any of us would have anything to do with the game wardens, if we didn't have proper licensing. However, there are people that do so, but they don't last very long. I'm sure if you would like proof, any of us would be willing to show you. At least I would.

Your business card in your signature states you are licensed, Tarponfly's says nothing about being licensed nor does his website. Just asking, licensed or not? Is it really illegal to title yourself as a guide, if you only bank fish? I don't personally know, figured they were legit questions.

Great post. After knowing the answer I voted to just not say anything. If I did see a game law violation I would call it in. That is just me.

By no means was it meant to come across that way. If you receive payment for taking someone fishing, providing gear, knowledge, etc., you have to have a guide's license, or you are breaking the law. Bank or boat.

Walk by and not worry about it. Need to have a license and other useless neccesities so the state can profit off the citizens? Ha! But yeah, they're just trying to have a good time and feed themselves.
