I have talked to Lowrance, and they have tried to be helpful, One guy says updates dont like apple computers, so I had a friend, that has updated his in the past give me an sd card with the update from a windows computer, and neither one of my hds touch gen 2 7" will update. I am done with trying to update them myself, I have tried numerous times, following the videos, etc, made sure the cards had nothing else on them, etc.... Should I take them out of the boat and send to Lowrance or is there someone around N. Texas area that I can take the boat (or just the units though they are hard mounted into the boat) to to get them updated to the same update number, ..I hate that i spent all this money and cant get them to be as useful as possible.

So what version is currently loaded on your units? If your unit is already running the same version that is on the SD card it wont do anything. Bass Pro Shops will update the units if you take them in to them. Not sure if they will do it while mounted on your boat so would give them a call prior to hauling it over there.

Biggest issue that I see is that someone will download the file from Lowrance as a .zip file onto a SD Card and try to update their unit. You need to un-zip the .zip file and then save the .upd file onto the SD Card and then insert into your units. Hope that helps.

Post a picture of your transom, from the side & back. Good pictures, not pictures that nobody can see.

It should work anywheres down there. What's the white thing under the step?
Keep in mind that this transducer works better at slower speeds so you don't have to put it at the pad height. I think you knew that, but I wanted to make sure.

Do the Elite 5's use a regular size SD card or a Micro SD card?

The HDS-9 has built in NMEA-0183 capabilities. The NMEA-0183 wires are bundled in the power cable. You can look in the Elite 5-Ti and HDS-9 Installation guides for the supported sentences.
