So the Touch 9 with the built in, what do you get? 2D sonar I run that and mapping on mine. Would be cool to have DI too though.

I ultimately gave up my Elite 7 when I installed my xi5, and instead replaced with a touch 9 using the built in... never looked back. If all you are using is 2D sonar ONLY you should have picked up the Helix 9 Sonar/GPS.....It would have saved you a bundle over the 9 Touch. Unless you are utilizing the gateway and NMEA kits.....

So the Touch 9 with the built in, what do you get? If it's all linked in, a few touches and I'm headed to the next way point I want to fish.

That's cool. I like my down imaging so I think I have the best of both worlds.

I use mine for the 2d on my elite 7 on my bow but love using it with my HDS 7 on the console to make it go to a brush pile and lock me right on it! Its an awesome trolling motor and couldnt be happier.

yeah the transducer in the xi5 is just a regular 83/200, but I'm fine with that... I can route any data from my rear touch 9 to the front, but honestly, half the time I don't even turn it on. Well I take that back, I do turn it on, because my front fish finder will give me a lot of data about what my xi5 is doing...
if you set heading lock, and/or cruise control, the finder will have a bar at the top that tells me my heading, and speed setting. This is needed, cause otherwise sometimes its so quiet... and I just like to know what's going on with it.

I decided to put the Xi5 with PinpointGPS on my boat and network it with my HDS units. Works great and it is really easy to move from one way point to the next using the Xi5. I use the sidescan and down imaging (DI) on the rear unit, and only the 2d sonar on the bow unit, but the two HDS units are networked so I can view the rear imaging up on the bow unit if I want to. Works great for me, although sometimes I think I would like to have the DI at the bow unit to confirm what the sonar is seeing. But, what I have now is such an improvement over what I had, and the fact that I don't have to mess with the extra cable running down the trolling motor shaft is a relief for me, so I think I will live with it. I'm basically lazy. Thanks to David at Shut-up-and-fish for his help in making this happen! Hope my helps.
