Wow that's a tough call. On deck I have an old H2O mettle that still works perfect, a Johnny Morris Carbonlite that's great, 2 Metaniums, 2 Lews Tourney Pros, 2 Steez and I don't hesitate to pick up any of them. Obviously for the price the H2O Express Mettle is great, but the Metaniums are like butter, smooth all day and cast a mile. If I had to pick one I would go Shimano.

Lews, so many choices, and a proven track record.
But you really can't go wrong with Shimano, Daiwa, or 13 Fishing.

I do only have one brand....Shimano.
All Curados.....all made in Japan.
I will not buy any new Shimano made in Malaysia POOP!!!

Keep an eye out on the classifieds here....Bass Boat Central classifieds....Ebay(high prices)....Craigslist...garage sales I found the model I like the best and I buy any of them that I see at a reasonable price.
