good feedback BB94, its not an easy decision. I'm not worrying about installation. I just want to make the most informed decision I can. however seems like 12' is the way to go whicheverr one I choose.
keep the input coming

Based on 100s of Talon vs PP posts over that last few years. It seems 90+% of the people that bought Talons are happy and 90+% of the people that bought PPs are happy with their purchase. I would say that regardless of which one you purchase that you will be ok. When decisions are this "tough" both products are good.

Here's what imma say. She I go to weigh ins at my tournament, people beach their boats and out their talons or poles down to keep the boat in place. I have only ever seen a boat with powerpoles get washed off the bank, and the owner has to get on someone else's boat to go out and get it. I've never seen this happen to someone with talons. Powerpoles do require a hydraulic fluid container to be installed in the boats read storage. I believe a talon is just as quiet if not more quiet than a power pole (maybe not the pp blade) and unless you bend them or get slot of sand in them, they will stay that way... Has someone been drinking?

I have 10 ft talons and highly recommend them. They're great.
Not long ago I had them down on a windy point. Waves high enough to crash up over the back deck and the boat never moved.

I flush mine out every use and no issues. That's what the port on the top is for. The longer you let it set the worse it will be. I know of people that had problems like you are describing but I also know that they neglected to flush them after every use.

I have the 8ft blades. I like them. They are noisy, If I can hear them deploy, I know the fish can hear it.

Mine made a bit of noise during deployment, but a $40 rebuild kit for each PP made them quiet as a mouse again. (A prior owner had neglected them, lost bushings, installed improper bolt, etc.)

The main reason I bought the Talons was I didn't have room for the pumps. The second reason was the 12' talon. I think they are a little louder than power poles, but I don't think its a big issue. I am very mechanical so installation wasn't a factor for me, but the pump blowing a hose in my boat was. I don't know if it has ever happened or not, but seems like it would be a huge mess to clean up. Also I was trying to go under a bridge the other day at Twok and couldn't because I don't have the tilt brackets yet. But I will now.

Rowlett,
how far above the deck does your 12 measure?
