Yes, you should quit.

I think over 26 then you should leave it to the kids.

If you want to go to college and you have the time and the money, It's your call there..........

I think that's a fair number to be pulling out of the college-level events, especially for the folks that have fished all their lives. I did start feeling guilty entering college tournaments near the end of my Masters degree, I finished at 24 (not that I was any good).

You see it all the time. College fishing is driven by money to qualify for the Classic. High School fishing is the same. Money driven industry.

P.S. You have to be enrolled for 12hrs to be a full time student.

I don't fully agree with that. There are a few anglers and clubs that dump money into it just to reach national prominence but the majority of college and high school anglers are doing it for the enjoyment of competition. I run a state-wide collegiate series (not in Texas) and there is no incentive to advance to some major event, just 40-50 kids showing up every month to fish against each other and have fun.

You're certainly right, there are some that will exploit the system for their own higher goals, but painting the whole sport in that generality is a little unfair.

Yes sir. I agree. We all fished the SFA December tournament on Rayburn for just bragging rights. I was basing my response to what I saw in the "College Fishing" world that advances to higher events.

I just graduated from A&M in December of 2014. I fished all of the college tournaments I could, everything from the Texas A&M club tournaments to the BASS and FLW college series. Just because it is a bunch of younger kids fishing doesn't mean the talent level isn't there. Look at what some of the recent national champions are doing. Jordan Lee, Matt Lee, Brett Pruett, and the list goes on. They're fishing the elite series, FLW Tour, and the BASS Opens and finishing very well.

I loved all of the college fishing I got to do. We traveled all over the place, fished new fisheries for us, competed against schools from different states, and because of that, college fishing is producing some phenomenal young pros.
