Without being as "heavy" as Gore-Tex? Exactly how "heavy" do you think Gore-Tex is? (Weight varies depending on which exact version one is addressing.) Actual "Gore-Tex" is a synthetic membrane of incredibly microscopic thickness that must always be bonded to at least one laminate surface.
Old school "Goretex" garments (like the ones previously mentioned in this thread) always have a mesh or fabric liner in them, which is a design specification set by Gore. This always makes the regular "Goretex" garments heavier and bulkier. I am not refering to the newer Gore products.

Frogg Togg's dont work stand up to 1 or hours of rain. They soak through. I keep a set in my truck, nevr use them though, I'd rather get wet than hassle with them.
Tight Lines! God Bless

Marmot or Columbia. I have a Marmot jacket that has lasted a long time. I did a wilderness canoe trip in Camada last August with one day solid of rain and I stayed dry. I did retreat it before I went because it was a few years old. I have a pair of Columbia pants I use with it that seem to work just fine. I believe these are lighter weight than the suits with bibs.

Frog Togg's are definitely not made for the full figured gentleman. Not to mention the elastic always seemed to cut into my wrists. I need a pear shaped raincoat and bibs.

Goretex Paclite is the material you want. Several manufacturers use it. I have a Marmot Minimalist jacket and some Bass Pro Shops pants. They both fit loose enough so I can wear a polyester layers underneath if it is really cold.

I agree....Cabelas makes great gear and has Goretex Paclite in their line of gear....check the link in my above post. Fished with mine last August in the Keys and my guide was loving the jacket...said he was gonna get one.

BPS Pro Qualifier Bib and jacket has worked for me. I don't think you can beat their warranty.
