Interesting topic. I have watched some amazing videos of folks doing some serious bass fishing in these things. I too am very interested now. I have done a little, I mean a little research so far. I was wondering there is a special name for those Kayaks that you can pump the pedals rather than bicycle style? Not interested in rowing. Got two of those for sale

For under $500 look at the 2-man, orange SOT from Academy. I assume they are still under $500 (they were $400 when I got mine). Bomb proof and very stable. Have caught tons of bass from mine up to 12 lbs, have taken it crashing through rapids on the Guadalupe and use it for taking out shark baits from the jetty at Port A. I have been dragging that thing over granite and scraping down rivers for almost 10 years and it is still going strong. It ain't a fancy Hobbie but it sure does work even on rough waters.
