When in doubt just look at the anal fin. Blues fin is long and straight and channel is rounded and shorter with fewer arrays. Side by side they look a lot different.

You may want to try the river channel south of the lake Dallas cut with some big shad. Also look around south of the toll
Bridge toward the east bank. Also try some shallow areas were they may be feeding on shad. Good luck.
