I know of at least 3 that have been caught on SR. All had pics taken and released.. Myself, if I ever get lucky enough will do the same... TB by far is the hottest lake on the planet... Which is good for SR.. Keeps it quiet... Both these lakes are producing large fish... 31 lbs won Media this weekend on SR...

If a fisherperson catches a fish that qualifies into the SAL program, I think most will enter, and donate.
Fisherpeople have big egos, and entering a fish that qualifies, feeds these egos.
Keeping the lake quiet is way less important than the fisherperson's ego.
The SAL program, (In my opinion) is great for the State of Texas and the fishing business in Texas.

I disagree with this thought. I think people have realized it's not "cool" anymore to turn a fish into the SAL program, but you could actually get blamed for the death of such a trophy catch. I do agree with egos being big in this sport, and since there's a chance you could get blamed for killing such a fish, your ego could take a hit from that. Just my .02...

I'd turn one in if I caught it!! I'm not gonna waste good money getting a trashfish mounted!!! roflmao Now if it was a 3 pound crappie I would get it certified and turn her loose back to mother Fork!! thumb

Fork may be dead though like that other guy said. I haven't caught a DD while chasing crappie in at least a year. lizard

I need to get a map and make my way to the big city of Yantis one afternoon. I think I might need a new biscuit or whatever it's called for the whisker biscuit! Mines a little outta shape like the guy punching the release!! Gotta get ready for a turkey trip in a month!!!

Slew cheers

I agree, if I were ever to get lucky enough to catch a lake record I would get it's weight certified; but I would not give it to the SAL program.

Toyota should be in Plano in a few more months.

Maybe they will open their eyes and pull out of this program and maybe it will go bye bye..........

Call me what you want to call me.. But I know of 3 that meet the criteria... A real fisherman doesn't need to make a post on this forum or send a fish to SL to be legit......... I fish SR at least 8 days a month.. I know what I know, and don't exaggerate.. But then again I am not a Amateur Pro......

It has been a fantastic early spring, I am sure they have caught a good number over 13 and were never turned in.

Falcon a few years ago told the TPWD to get bent on SAL program, looks like more people are following this pattern...

I don't want to get into the argument again about the SLP. But the same people (TP&W) who are being b@*&hed out on this forum for one mistake last year are the same people who put the bass in the lakes that became the 13+ we are catching today. And as far donating to SLP because it is NOT BEING COOL anymore is largely because of people posting opinions on the program and calling them statements of fact.

Does anyone believe the 13+ bass (who are mostly pure strain Florida's) just walked up here from Florida and decided to dive into our lakes. I am tired of reading about how bad the SLP and its workers were because of one incident last year. And does everyone believe a bass that is "caught, photographed on scales, photographed being held and Released" is not being stressed.

Stop pushing political agendas. TP&W and the SLP are the best in the nation. With no other state even close.

Statics and Top 25 Bass ever caught prove you wrong.

Texas does not have single bass in the Top 25 caught, and Japan a country smaller than Texas that get snow/cold in winter has 2 bass in the Top 25 and the Largest Bass ever caught.

California is the knock out winner of big bass ever caught......

Mr. Fontenot, I agree that TPWD's inland fisheries division is the best in the world. However, your statement on the SAL program and the fish it receives being mostly pure floridas is inaccurate.

I would encourage you to go here http://tpwd.texas.gov/spdest/visitorcent...8&Submit=Go and look up the last three or four years entries to the SAL program.

You will notice a large percentage are florida-northern crosses (FX). These fish are not used in the program and are released after about a week in Athens, if they don't die. Pure Floridas are kept to spawn and released months later. If they don't die.

For the 2014-15 season, there were six entries. Four were FX, two of those were released and two of them died. The other two were pure floridas and both of them died. Go back and look at the results for 2013-2014. Four of the 9 entries were FX. The other 5 were pure floridas and two of them died.

Would those fish have survived if they had been released after a quick weight and photo? Who knows?

Sure seems like you want to get into the argument again. Maybe even elevate it...

I also find it amusing that you dismiss other people's opinions and accuse them of making them "statements of fact," then declare your own opinions as statements of fact. That doesn't seem very well thought out...but at the end of the day, I guess that's why is great to be American--donate it, let it go, eat it--we all have options and plenty of opinions.
