I was fishing Rayburn today, my down imaging, side imaging and sonar stopped working . I have the hds9 gen 2, everything else worked on the unit but si,di and sonar. I checked connections, di screen was just a blue screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated Javelinman, Do you have two units on your boat? The reason I ask is that it seems odd for your SI+DI and your 2D Sonar to quit working at the same time, unless you're using networked sonar from one unit to another. If you are using networked sonar then it probably is networked through your LSS-2 box. If the LSS-2 box lost power or something, then you could have lost both SI+DI and 2D Sonar (networked) Check in your settings on the sonar section and see if you are set to USE :"This Device" or one of your other units. If you are set to another unit, try setting back to "use this device" and your 2D may come back. Also, check to see if your LSS-2 box has power and what lights are coming on. -Nic

How do I reset trip time back to zero in data overlay on a Gen 2 Touch 12?

I have two Gen 2 HDS 8's on my boat currently. I am wanting to add a Gen 1 HDS 10...Can they be linked. And is this a bad idea?

I am buying a new to me boat that has what was described to me as a Lowrance full suite electronics setup with an HDS8 and HDS7 on bow. I have lake tested the boat and the electronics work and seem to be pretty fast and the side scan is really clear as is the sonar, maps etc. How do I know what I actually have? Gen I or Gen II? The units are not touch screen. Anywhere in the dfw midcities I can take the boat where they can look at it and tell me what I have? Also there is a flip open Lowrance cover on the passenger console that appears to have some sort of plug in connection inside of it but nothing else. What would this be for?
Thanks Steve

Muzzle, that flip door contains sd card slots so you can record data or update your graph.
If they are gen1 Lowrance will be written in black. If they are gen2 Lowrance will be written in white. If they say "insight USA" on the flip door then they have built in mapping; but it's not impressive.

I guess I have Gen 2 and each one has a card slot on the head unit with a card already in it. Navionics I assume?

You described "a flip open Lowrance cover on the passenger console". What size is that? Is it located on the boat's passenger console? (and not on the Lowrance display?) If so, you have a Lowrance audio system. There is a docking station for iPods so that music can be played from the iPod, and you may be describing that docking station. The audio system is headless, meaning it is not mounted for console view. It is controlled via the NMEA network by any designated HDS display.
As for HDS Gen I/II units, I believe that most software versions (if not all) for Gen II actually display "Gen2" or "Gen II" on the screen briefly when the unit is booting. It's a big logo thing, so just watch for it as the units boot up.

Oops, guess I read his post too fast and thought he was asking about the sd card slots. Yeah, Mr. Flippin is right, that's the sonic hub. It works through your graphs but I have never used one so I don't know how they work.

Thanks guys. I will know more tomorrow when I pick the boat up. Gotta download some owner manuals if they don't have them to go with the boat. These Lowrance units seem way more complicated than the Bird I have on my old boat.

More complicated because they have 10x more options. Don't bother on a manual, if they've been updated then the manual doesn't follow the new software changes, all the menus are different vs. original software.

Just use it and you will learn it, the guys who are afraid to change the pages are the ones who never figure it out. You tube has a lot of info to view.

It works through your graphs but I have never used one so I don't know how they work. I have a Sonic Hub in my boat, so feel free to ask questions about it. I'll answer if I can. They aren't a key item for me, but I know how to use them. (This one just happened to be in the pimped-out boat I bought.)

Well these are the things I have. Lss-1 module, Sonic hub module, docking station in the dash, antennae and of course the HDS7 gen2 and HDS8 gen2. Also found a plastic container with Navionics cards and some other kind of lake cards that are in each head unit. No telling what kind of secrets are on these cards:) Looks like it's a setup that will cover about all I will ever use and then some.
Thanks for all the help guys.
