Hi everyone this is Max's dad. Here is the latest update.
Update : The drainage in Max's ear has not cleared up on its own and as is remains a very possible source of infection.
We have opted for a lumbar drain as that is the least invasive way to potentially resolve the issue.
Tomorrow he goes into surgery about 830 am, they will be adding the drain, taking out the 'bolt' in his head that measured cranial pressure - as he has passed the crucial stages of that being a chief concern-they will repair a tiny piece of his skull that may have splintered a bit into the brain.
What we need to pray for -
The drain needs to work and stop the flow of fluids through the ear. The only other option is brain surgery and this baby does not need one more thing done to his body.

Thank all of you for the incredible response financially. I am truly shocked at the generosity and the immediate response from friends, family members, aquaintences, colleagues, to people that have never even met my family. The relief this provides is just immense. We have no idea what the future holds or how we are going to get there, but with this support its not as scary. Thank you all so very much.
