I think you read that fish were on beds all over the Lake.
I read the same.
Sight fishing is limited due to water clarity.
I personally have not sight fished on Fork in years.

Remember fishers, Lake Fork guides usually post the good days, not average or slow days which we have quite often.

I knew yesterday would be tough. Normally is on a bluebird day like that with calm east wind. On the days when you walk outside and say, Man, it is BEAUTIFUL out here, normally the fishing stinks. I am sure lots of folks struggled yesterday.

Bite is always tough when they are on beds heavy like now. Caught one sight fishing but it was way shallow and small. Saw two that were in the 7-9 lb range that would not hold because I had to get right on them to see them and could not tell how they were setting up before they moved off. Also, blind casting a jig or fluke didn't work like it has the last few weeks. I believe because boat after boat went over the top of them looking at the bank..... If you can find grass the bigger fish are on the inside grass line not the bank. Fished from 3-dark and finally managed 5 in the last hour before dark at my last spot that I had thought about fishing to start.... 1 on jig sight fishing and the rest on a cr fluke in 9-10 ft I had to get off bank and away from the crowds. Bite was supper light and as soon as they felt pressure they spit it therefore I rookied it up and missed a bunch of fish lol. Deeper fish were almost white and fat which has me thinking another wave is staging. No giants but some solid low end slots and big unders.

It was tough where I was yesterday. High pressure (day after the day after a front) and no clouds. Lots of bass on beds or buried deep under cover. Some were pecking the tails of worms and moving them. Had limited success when I changed to a shorter, flatter trigged gill imitator bait where the hook is texposed right where the tail is.

Caught a 2.14 crappie grin bass fished 7-11:30 one bite, said screw this hit the shallows with minners and had a field day.. Should be against the law to have that much fun. All the fish caught were crappie or cats, one 4 lb bass.
Slim pick'ns on bass right now. I did see a lot of bedding action behind the grass lines.

I live on the north east side of the lake and went out the last few hours before dark. I caught 5, all dinks except one around 4. But on Wednesday evening I caught a 10.25 right at dusk. Everything I've caught this year has been on a baby brush hog or Carolina rig, 2 foot leader, snatching through scattered outside grass and letting it sit and sit.

I have fished Fork since the second week it was open to the public.

One thing I know:
If the gates are open and the lake is falling -
Fish somewhere else.

Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

I don't think the gates are open are they?

I've fished Fork with a guide that I've become friends with once or twice a year for several years now. We were scheduled to fish last week. I called to check in and he told me the fishing was so tough that we should reschedule and fish another day. For me on Fork, it's either hero or zero. You'll get 'em next time, keep casting!

They've been open for a month.
The lake lost 11 surface acres between Friday and Saturday.
It has lost 213 acres this week.

It's dropping.

It may be dropping, but the gates have been closed since the middle of last week, and only one open the several days before that. I drive by it every day.
