Didn't even attend, know their routine.
Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

http://tpwd.texas.gov/newsmedia/releases/?req=20160324c&nrtype=all&nrspan=2016&nrsearch=Modifying harvest regulations for channel and blue catfish bass on Lake Tawakoni (Hunt; Raines, and Van Zandt counties). The new proposal would remove the current 12-inch minimum length limit, but with a modified 25 fish daily bag (blues and channels combined). Within the 25 bag, only seven fish could exceed 20 inches in length and of those seven fish, only two could exceed 30 inches. There'll be an adjustment period for myself. But I think this is a good thing. I like to keep 14" or better for the grease. If I do catch a big'un I'd probably lay her fat belly across my fat belly take a picture and turn her loose.

I might add that the new regulations do not go into effect until 9/1/2016.

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the old/current regs.
I don't find the new ones to be too offensive either though.
While I think folks should be allowed to keep what they want so far as the fishery isn't suffering, I also find it stupid to see the number of large fish people keep just for a bragging photo. All in all I see no harm in the new regs.

So does that mean I can still keep trophy catfish until September? The regulations allow you to keep 2 fish of your 25 fish daily limit that are over 30 inches and I didn't see a maximum listed so even after the regs go into action you can still keep 2, but you cant keep more than that.

It'll be interesting to see if there is any long term benefit.

Read the latest reservoir report. It gives some clues. I think they are trying to build up fish in multiple length classes. I think it will work well.
