Mudshark,
I have 2 1oz egg sinkers in the pvc, capped at both ends, when a fish is on the weights roll to the end causing a stand up flag, also have an Eye screwed into the top cap, allowing the attachment of the name tag.

I normally don't have my jugs anchored and stay woth them so I usually see when they get a bite. I guess that is the great thinkg about jugs...there are many ways to set them

When they are floating around and not anchored they bounce around when a fish hits them. Don't need PVC or anything to see when they hit.

I bought light blue noodles atr Walmart two years ago and some cheap enamel white spray paint. The paint peeled some but is still in use. Its not hard to keep a cheap can of paint around to tough up the noodles. I make mine with pvc through the middle, 3 or 4" rebar inside the pipe and capped at both ends. Used laminated address tags. When I wanted to use weights I just used bricks. The weights sliding insdie the pvc pipe make the float a tip up. Use set the noodle laying down inthe water and when a fish gets on it tips the weight and the noodle stands up.
That lets you and any one else running your jugs know there is a fish on. Thats the only trouble leaving noodles out unwatched, other scoundrals beat you to your fish.
