Guy can flat out fish, think his boats every year are prize boats he's won, last year it was a nitro, this year its a stratos. Started out his career fishing out of a little aluminum rig and consistently cashed checks in it. He is one of the reasons the elites said you couldn't use an aluminum boat unless you fish the entire season out of it.

We use to sponsor Steve when I worked at Kistler. Steve just wants to focus on fishing and doing his best. It is that simple. He is very loyal to his friends when it comes to sponsors. It is truly a team effort with his family. Some colleges want to charge you to use their name. We will leave it at that.

That ain't just a Stratos...that's like a mid 2000s Stratos with an older Yamaha HPDI. Pretty crazy.

Looks exactly the same as the stratos mike mclelland is running this year, don't know how old mclellands is but would think it would be a newer one since he is sponsored by them... trailer and engine on kennedys definitely older.

One year at the a TTBC on Conroe he had a older 19ft boat with a 200 on it. Everyone else's had much newer boats with 250's on them. His boat looked out of place. I doubt her cared.

It would be nice to be able to play and not have to hustle sponsorship money.
Does anybody know if he is self made man or was he born into money ?

He was not born into money. His dad is in a little bass club in my town and all the old timers talk about is how he was fishing with them in the club since he was a little kid http://www.the26ers.com

He fished the longest out of a 519 ranger with a 200hpdi. Then he won the nitro z8/Mercury. Tore it up and got a stratos with a hpdi. He trusts them old smoking Yamahas for some reason.

2014 Forrest Wood Cup - everyone was running and gunning hundreds of brush piles/waypoints with the latest technology while Steve was back in a creek throwing a Snagless Sally with a pork chunk using a reel he bought on Ebay. He finished 4th and became my fishing hero.

I loved the BASS video of him catching them on the big Hudds in 2007 Clear Lake event. He had to throw back one almost ten pounds due to it being hooked outside the mouth. Their fishing rules are as screwed up as their politics!!
