Roberts can be tough, but there is a really long list of lakes that I would fish Roberts before them - including Fork

It's not that tough a lake to pattern. Seems tough right now bue to the water rising and being stained. Fish are a little scattered but when you find one. Key in on how deep it was and what was different about the area. Me and my partner took second Tuesday evening with almost 13lbs in 2 hours. All really shallow. Went back to the same spot yesterday and nada. Stuck with what I knew worked the night before and went looking. Sure enough found several nice fish shallow on similar structure and bottom composition. Things are about to explode out there. The fat girls are moving in.

With all the rain the muddy areas fish tough. It's even compounded when they are pulling water through the dam.

Just one more cast.

TPWD gave up on Ray Roberts in 2002. They have stocked it only 3 times since then, once with 16K bass, and then around 500K two more times. That is 3 stockings in 14 years.

Compare that to Fork that gets 500K bass stocked per year.

I agree it's not that tough to pattern right now, but what lake is during the spawn? I'm going to be trying to beg my way onto someone's boat come post spawn/summer. Crossing my fingers brad or someone else can teach me to find and catch 'em deeper than 4' lol. Once they move back out I'm sure I won't be catching them anymore!

I bet a can help you out, once they move back out deep. That is what I'm ready for. I haven't got to fish roberts post spawn in a long time, and I'm excited about it this year as long as the lake doesn't flood again.

To the original question is it that tough??? After 20 or so years of fishing it regularly, yep it is tough! I will be out there in the AM trying to find a few!!

See you on the lake and have a great day!
