The moon, planet and stars must all of been aligned today.
Trolled few areas with nothing. Graphed a few schools but no takers.
Around 6pm the birds got to working and I was hot on the trail.
Hybrids and whites were surfacing. The graph lit up and it was on!
All on mainlake 15ft of water.

23whites, 4 hybrids

Awesome!!!!!!

Perfect day for it. Low winds and cloudy. I've never experienced that type of surfacing / fishing for whites. I hear the stories about it all the time. I'm jealous. Great job.

We threw top water baits to them. First I've tried that and ill never throw anything else now for surfacing fish. Usually we would just cast rattletraps on them.

I am planning to yak up yegua from nails creek park ramp Sunday, to fish for whites (3/20).
Plan to fish the section between wolf pond and newmans bottom.
Does anybody know if the current in yegua has slowed down?
Thanks,
J

Here are a couple of links showing the flow conditions for Middle and East Yegua:

With the lake at the current level it backs up into the Yegua all the way to Newmans bottom and the trailway bridge. There will be very little flow to the creek all the way up to Newmans bottom. Don't know how this will affect the whitebass but the crappie should be in that part of the Yegua in huge numbers!

Lake level is 242.3 ft. They raised the flow to 2000 cfs.

Thanks Bowler and HLS:
Looks like west yegua creek level has already fallen and likely the flow is not dangerously quick.

J-Moe and I made a mad dash up Jerdelle Saturday late afternoon to find the creek has dropped about a foot or more and cleared up considerably. Still caught a few of everything LMB, whitebass and sunfish but the whitebass spawn is pretty much done.. Whitebass fishing gets reel tough in that tea colored clear slow moving dropping water.

Today, My wife, My son and I will be traveling to Irwin bridge to take a hike and cast a line. My wife and I were out there Thursday afternoon. Biting was extremely slow, did manage to pull in a very nice Hybrid. He gave a good fight, made the trip well worth it. The creeks were down, still about 2 feet above normal. They were muddy, had a good flow. All in all, as the saying goes....."A bad day of fishing BEATS a good day at work, anytime" So we are loaded up and going to head out that way. If'n ya see a baldheaded, blue-eyed, toothless redneck.....say howdy. LOL, see yall when I see yall.

I think I heard someone sneeze.........time to go fishing

So we went to Irwin bridge, hiked a little over halfway to Newman's Bottom. We fished for about 5 hours. after all said and done......stringer had a hybrid, a male white and a goo. Not much to report. The creek is almost back to normal, has a nice flow, starting to clear up, but sad to say, I am starting to think it is time to get the boat ready to hit the lake. Especially after seeing what J-Moe did out there, LOL. Anyhow, this is the first year in quite a while I have been able to get out to the creek so many times, in a long time. So now we will push the 'ole pontoon up in the creeks and get some of those bedding crappie. Thanks all for all the great reports. AWESOME year all-in-all.
