Pretty bold assessment of a rig you've never laid eyes on.

I briefly owned a PC back in the early 90's and I have had several buddy's who have owned them as well, some still own them. This is what I would look for:

1) All used performance boats should be checked out by an authorized marine mechanic at best or a thorough lake test at the very least, if the owner refuses either then walk away. 2) That said, eliminate the obvious by checking for any stress cracks in the hull and transom, and look closely at the cap attachment for any signs of separation or warping, if you see any of these then walk. 3) Check the entire trailer including the tongue (especially if its a break-a-way) for any signs of abnormal wear, twist or structural failures. PC had some issues with under trailering some of their models that caused problems but probably not with the model you describe tho, but check the trailer never the less, including lights. 4) Check all lights, pumps, tilt, switches and gauges to make sure everything works, small things shouldn't be a game changer but it will give you an idea of what might need to be taken care of post sale.

PC made some pretty good rides but like everyone else they had their issues to, my brother had a 210 SP DC for a couple of years back in 2003 and it was a great platform that had a pretty good ride, a little wet but it handled well.

The guy didn't ask for a mile long pre-sale check list. He asked for some opinions on ProCraft.

Which is what I gave him from my experience with them, and what to look for in a used one. Reading is fundamental.

Thanks guys. I've owned skeeter and nitro's in the past. Not sure how PC compares. But I'll look at it for sure.

Used to like the Pro Craft a LOT - had two during the memo bill era and they did an adequate job. A few times I did take a wave over the bow while on the trolling motor - haven't been as much of a fan since then. But still a decent boat.

Have an '03 ProCraft and have had few issues and none related to the boat itself... just typical carpet removal and here recently livewell pump and livewell fill/empty valve went out... parts ordered and on the way.Have not been sorry I got it with the budget I had to work with

Check the transom. Friend of mine had one for many years, and it was a great boat for him. As it aged, the transom was getting soft, so he sold it to someone with full disclosure of the transom issue. His was pre-2000, so I don't know if they changed their transom design in the 2000's.

Owned a 2004 185 Pro weth dual console with a 150 XR6 and it was a decent ride and motor. Only issue I had was coming off plane and water would come over the back end, so I had to slow down and or turn to avoid...that was the only issue I had. It was manageable. Otherwise, handled water great, ran great with good maintenance, decent storage and was a sharp looking boat. Good luck in your decision.

I've got a 99 PC with a 200 Merc that's in my signature. I love the boat. Built very well and to last. It also handles rough water really well. Not sure about the newer ones as you said you were looking at an 07.

I've got a procraft, and It certainly floats.

Get UNDER the trailer before you buy it. Check the cross beams in the center where they meet.

Mine had a 1/2 crack from the bottom up, and I replaced the trailer - which ain't cheap!

Otherwise my boats solid. She's not that pretty, but she's solid. Typical stuff, ripped seat, all the fake wood is faded, the carpet is EH, the gel coat is EH, scratches, stickers half rubbed off. All cosmetic stuff that I don't care much about.

I think they are deep boats with good rides. I think for $12.5K you can get a better boat.

I agree with the under power. I have 99 180 dc 150. But mine hauls. Test drive it

I've owned 2 Procrafts. My first was a 1650V 86 model owned it for 18 yrs. Great boat. My current one is a 92 model Pro 180, it is a solid fishing platform. Won't win any races but other than that it is a great boat. Stable and dry in the wind as long as the driver does his job.

Currently fish out of a 96 Pro Craft V180C, dual console. Bought it last year with only 18 hours on it. Never had one problem with the boat. It only has a 135 Black Max on it, but it will do 66 (GPS and speedomoeter) with me in it. 54 mph with 2 guys loaded down. Not sure if I just got a freak or what, but it hauls for a 135. The boat is solid, but I will eventually upgrade to something bigger just since deck space is a little bit limited.
