Dealing with the wind is a constant in power boats or yaks. With a pedal yak, you just point your nose into the wind and maintain position. With a paddle yak you do drifts across the brush pile. A drift sock helps, but you are still moving around some. Either way you need to drop a reference marker ( or usually two in my case ) to work off. If you anchor, use a very long rode and drop anchor at least 20 feet up wind from the pile. Same with your marker buoys, don't drop them on the pile just near it to use as a reference.

Know a spot I'd hit tomorrow if I still had my kayak. Perfect platform for the spring run, hit spots only a kayak can gain access to.

I've been fishing a local city lake, no big water. I have a 11 ft Rod in a Scotty pointing directly left or right depending on which way I'm going. Slowly move down the dam or my favorite bank. Usually have a couple jigs rigged up and do alright.
