Where is the best place to find jig molds for pouring my own soft plastic crappie jigs?

Maybe Jacobs molds?

I would question if you were only pouring for yourself, would it be more expensive than just buying some here and there? How many different styles of baits are you looking to pour?

I would be just pouring for myself. I'm sure that it would be more expensive than just buying from existing vendors. I've seen some molds that pour only around 5 or so jigs at a time for around $100 (mold only). There is something about the idea of pouring my own jig and catching fish with those plastics that is appealing. I know it'd probably be a lot cheaper than tying my own jigs but for me, I prefer plastic. I may try tying a few and I may come around to fishing with tied jigs.

Jacob and Lure Craft is where I get my stuff, I mostly pour bass baits because nothing I pour can last as long and have the action of my crappie hand ties... Pouring plastic can be fun, but the money that you spend to start up is pretty much it, (Molds, injectors, microwave, safety gear) as long as you pour for yourself. Buying plastisol and colorant is the only thing you will have to refill... I love how people like to say anyone can do hand ties but act like doing plastics is rocket science, nothing is hard about shooting plastic into a mold once you understand your color recipes. But the time and detail of tying one bait at a time takes skill and gives me more pride than any plastic I've ever poured..

If I was just starting out I would go to Jacob's molds and just check out the web site for a few days. They carry a full line of all you may need and you can see what the cost is. Its the same if anyone is thinking about doing their own jig hooks.

I think pouring or hand tying takes skill. I don't think either would be easy. Once you understand what needs to be done and how to do it and spend some time pouring or tying, it'd probably get easier but just starting out I would assume would be difficult. It's like I tell my children, a test is easy if you know the answers. It's tough if you are not prepared.
