Enjoyed the video man. That stuff looks like it works pretty good. Where can you get it at? Could it be injected into hot plastics? I make my own plastics

I got it free at a tournament and just did an experiment. It worked so well I reached out to him. He told me he isn't selling it right now but does hand out sample bottles. So if you PM me I'll send you his info

WD-40 has prevailed in every test. I found personally garlic Pam was a close second. Of course it is not available any longer.

Keith Jones, fish biologist and author has commented on attractants extensively in his book "Knowing Bass." He has tested about everything under the sun under controlled laboratory settings with bass that have never seen lures. As many of you have said, scent can help hide odors that might otherwise put fish off, so it has some value there. It also can cause fish to hold onto baits longer which can improve hook up rates. In terms of being a true attractant though, the stuff doesn't really "attract fish" unless you pound the same area over and over again. The way most of fish is to cast and move cast and move. The scent trails never reach a high enough density to actually attract any fish to the area. In fact in can actually work against you because fish can be drawn to where you lure was, not where it is now as you move on down the bank. Ultimately Keith said attractants do add some value, but it's fairly marginal overall. Depending on the particululars of how you are fishing it may or may not be worth it from ROI point of view.

A bass relies on the 3 S's daily. Sight,Scent,Sound. Anytime you can add all 3 to a bait you will catch more fish... period.
I have found some scents work better than others and I have a few that I use that are not sold for that reason that work really good.
I remember back in the days of using WD 40 on baits and it was crazy how it worked.
Did not stay with the WD 40 very long in fear the fish may grow a third eye or something.
I am a firm believer in scent attraction in fishing and in deer hunting. That is because you believed the myth that WD 40 was made of fish oil. It is not and never has been. You had faith in a substance proven by the "experts" that will repel bass--petroleum.

I've heard a few people say bass can get negatively conditioned to scents, like garlic/coffee/licorice. That certainly hasn't been my experience; but some avoid baits with those scent profiles. Anyone believe that?

What exactly is Uncle Norms? Is it an extract from forage. I agree with collincountytx that a fish can get conditioned to a scent not natural to their enviroment until it is removed for a time but natural scents like extracts from forage are the everyday norm for them so would it actually attract them. I believe the masking of our own stink or the chemical scent of the plastics makes most sense for using scents. I use them (ProCure to be exact) and seems to work ok but I can't say it's a game changer for me. These days it's hard to find pladtics that doesn't already have a scent.

Interesting thread. No clear answer which kinda sounds like fishing.

I used to fish with a man (25 years ago) who used anise oil on plastics everyday. I remember you had to buy it from the pharmacy. I can't say it helped but this man caught lots of bass on what we would now consider obsolete baits. I think it probably removes or masks odors that are offensive to fish and I think it made the fish hold on to the bait longer. I think I will go buy some today!

Interesting thread. No clear answer which kinda sounds like fishing. Here is as clear of an answer that I can give by fishing scent from 1982 until now. It has helped me catch more Bass and bigger stringers of Bass due to the first fishing trip that got me started on the 3 natural scents. Mr. Martin explained and showed me first hand how to do this. The trouble he went to was over and above what I could do wanting to fish tournaments. He would keep his fast moving baits in a minnow bucket over night and set it in the boat the next morning with the spook and spinner bait already tied on and in the bucket. His soft plastics were kept in a Night Crawler box burred in with the worms. When he could catch Crayfish he would do the same with his homemade jigs. I fished with him for a year in our West TX. lakes and could never beat him day in and day out; until I started producing the pure extracts from the bait. I could not take the live bait in the boat to fish tournaments; so I would use the blender to produce the next best thing to what he was doing. I used Minnow on all my fast moving baits like spinner baits by dipping the bait in the old JUICE JUG. I put the ground up Night Crawler juice in all my soft plastic bags and Crayfish in my pitching/flipping bags. I have never look back. About 10 years ago, I found a gentleman that test the aggressiveness of fish on different scents and he confirms that what I was doing was correct, that his research showed the same results on fresh water fish. It was a great day when I no longer had to raise Minnows, Night Crawlers and hunt the streams for Crayfish. Now I can order from him most any scent that you can imagine; but he assures me that these 3 are as good as it gets.

I can get the four species of Water Snakes found in Texas. It is expensive at $300 per Gal. and is a special order; so you would have to take a whole gallon. - Northern Water Snake is the most common. I'll be glad to furnish all the snake oil you want for only $275/gallon, free shipping.
