Thanks Curtis for the reply. Bite on the upper end has been pretty good the past couple of weeks. Crappie found in shallow coves. Bluegill also starting to stage by shallow water.

Went Saturday and kayaked around the ramp 11 area. Couple small bass and bluegill but no crappie. Lots of kayakers there and a few Jon boats and no one was catching anything. Might have just been an off day.

Spawn is just about over for the Crappie. Still catching some in the shallow water. Sunfish bite slowed down form the latest front. Sunnies are staging for their spawn. It will not be long.

I figure about Mid April for the sunnies! Already have caught a bunch of em.

Went out to boatramp 11 today and caught about a dozen sunnies. No small bass today. First time I have been fishing in over a month.

Methinks this is a strange year, for fishing and gardening. DFanman and I fished McQueeney yesterday thinking the Crappie spawn would be in full swing like last year. Fished all my reliable holes only to wind up with one. Did catch a few bass and some eater cats. Sunnie bite also was pitiful. Guess I "went to sleep" this year as I missed the spawn as well as reports of such.

Thanks cbag1 and Joe Ed for the replies. Cbag1: Fish are getting very active now. Now is the time to start getting out there. Joe Ed. Since last May's flood the bite has really slowed down on the river lakes. However the bite has really picked up since this past November. Brush piles are staying in place and the current has slowed down a lot. Bite has been good this year for both the Crappie and sunfish. Should be a great year.

Nice fishing guys. You guys are always on them. Do you think this latest rain will have an effect on the bite? Got a little over 2" this last go around. 2" the Tuesday before. Total about 4" within the week.

Thanks Gitter for the reply! Yes Sir I checked the area water bodies and they are all muddy. Dunlap,Mcqueeney,and Placid. It will take a few days to clear up.
