Easier than hiking downstream from Irwin's Bridge.

Take a wagon or jetty cart. Makes carrying back your fish and gear much easier. My neighbor can pull a wagon with his bicycle. Where there is a will there is a way.
Great news!
Shut up and fish!

Crappie have started to move shallow on main lake. Anyone that knows where the brush piles are can get a quick limit.

just remember... that is one long walk back with a limit of fish... Even more reason to catch-and-release. Good luck to everybody heading out this weekend.

The Park staff says foot traffic only. No bicycles. Wagons or carts are OK.
Shut up and fish!

I got to the spillway before daylight this morning. I managed a half dozen whites, and got into some channel cats and caught about 15 goos. Everything caught on 1-2" crawdads. The shrimp bite was nearly nonexistent today. Went to the bridge at 36 and caught a couple huge female whites and a great big rock bass on a roadrunner. Couldn't get through the goos down there to fish with crawdads.
Left the lake and went to some ponds. Top water bite in and around vegetation was on fire. Used an owner flashy swimmer swimbait hook. I didn't have any real top water baits so I buzzed this over and through the salad, letting it break the surface occasionally. Looks like it will be a great bait to beat the banks on Somerville with. It has a screw lock on it, and is weedless.

My neighbor that was with me today caught it, and put it on ice with the rest of our catch. I was curious about how big they get, so I looked up the record and it is 1.13lbs. This one, on my wife's digital kitchen scales, weighs 1.21lbs. It is still in tact and in my yeti. May need to find some certified scales tomorrow......where do I need to send him?

My units said between 65-70 in the afternoon. I was in shallow water most of the time.

Walked into Newman's bottom this morning. The bite was really good early this morning. There was a fairly big crowd that made the one mile walk. I saw Troy, he was putting a whooping on them, as usual.

Based on the current weather forecast for next week, tomorrow could be one of the last days to get in on this year's White Bass run in Yegua Creek. If we get the amount of rain predicted the creeks will be flooded for two to three weeks at least which would put us almost in April. Of course, some of the smaller creeks could produce limits if conditions are right.
