Hit a massive sea turtle doing 30 mph running offshore in the gulf a few years ago that took out both off my 200 Suzukis. Had to be towed back in. Insurance bought me 2 brand new ones so it turned out OK.

Well, it's good to see that more people have seen this thing than just me. I've tried for years to tell people about it and no one believes me when you tell them that you saw a turtle that could've been 6 feet wide or as big as The hood of a car

One of my most feared experiences on the water involved a gigantic turtle when I was a kid. I was fishing a spring fed tank out in west Texas from an inner tube with stringer of bass hanging down and got violently jerked down on one side like a bobber. Looked down as my leg brushed up against a big one that had chomped down on one of the bass. Talk about panic, I ditched the whole stringer and never did that again. Many years later while fishing the ocean a couple of miles offshore I had a huge sea turtle come up and stick its whole head over the gunnel of my kayak. Took the picture below last year of a guy that caught this one near ramp at Athens.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I saw one on Hawkins in the 70s in my john boat. About as big around as the boat. My dad did not believe me. I still remember saying . Dad for real that big !! It was covered in moss and had a school of minnows swimming with it.

A catfish guide caught a real big one on a trot line I'd say over 10 years ago. I saw a real big one in Searcey about 2002.
They move around a lot. I found a sea turtle on a beach one time that was washed up in a storm and it was upside down and dead. Had one heck of a time turning it over. Real heavy. The ones I've seen in Fork and other I have seen in my youth in the piney woods were all huge.

The one the guide caught was released alive. They live a really long time if not shot by water borne bow hunters.

A couple years ago I saw an adolescent yeti walking up a bluff in Chaney branch. I can still remember that smell....

I've never told anyone because I was scared they wouldn't believe me.
