Jigger poling since he is using the side to side motion with the pole.
One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!

So which is this? Doodle socking, jigger poling or something else? Doodle Sockin for me,was back in the 70's.My buddies and i bought 10 ft fiberglass blanks, and put eyes on it,and electrical taped a reel to the butt of it,spooled with 25 lb.test.(Didn't have the choice of rods back then, that we have today)And basically just flipped jigs or texas rigs with them into mostly heavy cover. We called them "Sockin Poles".You could pull a 5 pounder out of heavy cover, and in to the boat with the hook set. Just my 2

Terminology varies according to geographical location and time period, so perhaps all posters are correct. Back in Arkansas in the 50's and 60's, doodle socking was similar to what the guy did in the video. Long rod, short line and a buzz type bait that you would put under trees close to shore and moved it fast, usually in semicircles.
