We put our kayaks in at the bridge about 8 miles southeast of Carthage, on FM 2517 I think. We also talked to a group in canoes that put in at the bridge on Highway 59 and were making a 2-3 day trip down the river. We did see a couple people fishing at both of these bridges. A boat would really help though, and it can be paddle powered because you don't have to go far to cover several bends and sandy shores that hold the fish.
