Does J-moe mean parking in the Park or just near the bridge and walking toward Newmans with the creek on your right side. I usually stay closer to the bridge. With limited success. Be prepared to walk in about an hour to get to the area he's speaking of. There's a pretty well marked trail but it's a long haul to say the least. I used to carry around an old Navy sea bag in my back pack. That way I could carry a limit of Whites more easily if I had to hike a long distance. Best of luck.

Did you catch those today, J-Moe? Man, that's a mess of fish you got there. Not the most scenic location though.

While everyone goes to the creeks at the upper end of Lake Somerville for whites & crappie I'll go back in time up another creek of history.

I drove out to the lake this morning. I drove over the dam and the spillway paking lot was already half full at 6:15 AM. They are not releasing water so I thought it was odd. I just had to check it out. I sure am glad I did. I fished with my fly rod and gray & white clouser again. I slowly started catching fish and once I got the presentation down I started catching fish on just about every other cast. It was kind of comical. I was the only person catching fish so I kept getting asked what I was using over and over again. People even took pictures of my fly. I ended up catching 8 hyrbrids and 20 or so white bass before being crowded out of my spot. Catching the hybrids on my 4 weight was incredible. It was way over matched for those hybrids. They hit the fly so hard a couple times that they almost jerked the rod from my hands. There are no fly fishing records established for the Yegua so I decided to have them officially weighed at the Marina so I can submit them for water body records. I registered a 5 lb./ 22 inch hybrid, a 1.8 lb./ 16.25 inch white bass and a 5.9 lb. buffalo. I lost 2 hybrids that were even bigger. I was using a 6 lb. tippet. I tried sizing up to a 12 lb. tippet but the fish ignored my bait and I couldn't get a bite so I had to go back to the 6 lb. tippet prior to landing the 5 lb. hybrid.

Man, that's freakin' awesome! What a day of fishing. Pretty funny that you were the only one catching. I guess those fly fishing skills are paying off.
I can't believe you landed those big hybrids on your fly rod.

J-Moe quote ----- I don't string fish. I only took 3 pictures today. I guess I should have recognized that some people may take me to be a Liar. My friends know better. I'll leave the reports to those that string fish.
J-Moe, I get called out on fishing post all the time. I take it with a grain of salt these days. I personal know that you caught those fish. You don't have to post pics to prove anything to me, I've watched you catch fish. I hope my comment about photos wasnt took literal. I know who all here can fish and don't need posting of pics every outing.

I don't think it was taken wrong. He knows we are messing with him. I get called out on how many black bass I catch in one trip. People can't imagine someone catching 30 plus blacks in a single trip. Most black bass I have caught in one trip was 97. Unbelievable day for sure. That was six years ago, the most I've caught since then was 67. But even that is hard to grasp when you're talking about LMB.
