Interesting. I've never heard of them either.

I don't mind at all, but when I see a boat ramp like Titus county ramp in sandlin and they charge for it, makes you wonder wtf, looked to me like any other government run operation, suck the life out of it!!

I have gotten the corps pass and its suppose to be good at ANY Corp Of Eng.. lake ramp. But since Grapevine is a Corp of Eng. lake and those ramps at one time maintained by the Corp but are now by the City of Grapevine, they don't work there anymore. For those that are disabled Vets, the Corp Pass is FREE

We get one every year. Haven't needed it for longer than I recall because the gate is left open with no one manning it. confused

Lets see, charge a nominal fee to maintain a resource to those who choose to use the resource? Yeah sounds "right" to me. Otherwise we would all be paying extra $ to maintain the 58 national parks regardless of whether or not we actually use them. Different scale of $ but same concept.

The honor system is dead on most lakes but especially Monti.

I guess I don't mine because it puts someone there to watch over everyones boats, trucks, and other property. I think they can also use the extra money to help with the up keep. The original money only paid for the built not up keep.

I'll gladly pay $25/yr to access two secure ramps on Lewisville.

Annual Corps pass is a great deal except during extreme flood or drought years... glad I didn't get one last year cause I mostly use it at Lavon. Also get State Park pass but its considerably more, think I gave $70 for it. Again, piece of mind that truck and trailer will still be there and not parted out by tweakers for meth money

State parks are paid for with tax dollars and charge an entry fee. Do you have the same issue with that?

Toll roads?

Don't even get me started.....

This is a bad assumption. Lots of corps parks are leased out. Grapevine, Lewisville, etc, are good examples. The one thing that really chaps my rear end is the COE taking over the administration of Texas COE parks from the non-profit that ran them for years because they didn't shut down during the last government shutdown. Now places like Westlake Park on Lewisville that were open year round are now seasonal parks. I do not like people playing politics with boat ramps.
